Winter Retreat 2017
Winter Suburban Retreat 2017 with Rev. Connie L. Habash
“Sound, Energy, and Intention”, with special guests Denzal and Cruuz Santana
Energy is the essence of the entire universe, and the essence of you and me. Everything in nature has a signature vibration that co-creates the symphony of the life on this planet. Our words and even our thoughts vibrate with power and allow us to co-create the vision of our lives. Working with sound and word – through listening to nature as well as vocalizing through chanting and mantra and writing sacred intentions through the Life Visioning Process – is a powerful way to uplift our energy and transform our lives.
Join Rev. Connie for this magical day of attuning ourselves to higher vibrations through sound, nature, yoga, meditation, written, chanted, and spoken word. Adult and children’s programs available!
Our day will be capped off by a special concert of sacred spoken word and ethereal drumming with Denzal and Cruuz Santana of Straight to Heart – inspiring for all ages!

Rev. Connie L. Habash, MA, LMFT leads the adult program. An ordained Interfaith Minister, psychotherapist, and Yoga & meditation teacher since 1993, Rev. Connie is passionate about creating spiritual community and deep connection to ourselves, each other, Spirit, and the planet. For more information email her: [email protected] or call 650-996-2649
Katie Hicks leads the kid’s program. She began her journey in the fossil-laden creeks of southern Indiana. As a teen and young adult she spent six years attending the W.I.L.D. (Wilderness Immersion Leadership Development) program where she slept monthly in primitive shelters through rain and snow, studied scouting, bird language, and natural history, and went on 2 3-day group survival trips carrying only a knife and living off the land. She spent a year training with deep nature connection leaders Jon & Nicole Young and was lead instructor for their all-ages village-style nature immersion program in the Santa Cruz mountains.
Katie continues to work as a deep nature connection mentor in Santa Cruz. On her free time she can be found on California’s wild coasts swimming with harbor seals or exploring through huckleberry patches. She is passionate about singing, fiddling, dancing, and making fun mischief in nature with people young and old.
Denzal and Cruuz Santana – HeartBeat Spoken Word Concert
Denzal and Cruuz Santana, gifted poets, musicians, artists, & visionaries from the San Francisco Bay Area, actively anchoring in, & transmitting high vibrations, powerful thought forms of peace, love, & harmony to the planet through drum and spoken word.
Denzal Santana, vocalist and healer extraordinaire, has studied with curandero’s (shaman healers) of the Peruvian Amazon for over 15 years. His poetry is inspired by his studies in the Amazon, as well as through delving deep, with ancient scriptures of many spiritual traditions including Essene teachings. He has written a poetry book titled “Straight To The Heart Word-Sound And Prayers,” and together with his son Cruuz, they are continuously creating music with djembe drums, improvised poetry, and hand pan drums.
Cruuz Santana, widely talented and versatile musician, started taking piano lessons at the age of 5. At the age of 7 he studied classical guitar for 6 years with Charles Lloyd vocalist and guitarist for bands, “Cash Pony” and “Whiskerman”. Cruuz has had the privilege to jam with talented musicians such as “Heather Noel”, “David Kai”, “Al Torre”, “Charles Lloyd”, and “Shimshai,”. Besides drumming with Denzal, he teaches guitar in the San Francisco Bay Area.
