Make a Little Difference – February 2014

Yoga LoveWhile some of us are thinking of romance and love in the month of February, I’d like to direct your attention to a different kind of love.A love that is so deep and fierce that it powers the greatest difference-makers in history.  It’s the love of the greater good.

Whether your love is for the well-being of the planet, the homeless (human or animal), or the souls of humanity, each one of us has a sense of a greater good calling us.  Something bigger than our individual selves that impells us to make a positive difference in the world.

Let that deep and profound love fire you up this month.  Now is the time to think of what truly matters for all beings, and how you can serve that.  There’s never been a more important time in history to heal, inspire, restore, and transform the planet.

Sounds a bit intimidating, eh?

But I want you to know that you are indeed an important part of creating the change we long to see. You – yes, you – can do something about it.

Now, take a deep breath.  It’s not all on your shoulders.  But if each of us shoulders just a little bit – if each of us makes just a little difference – that adds up to a lot.  So read this month’s blog, Think Small, and then share just one little thing you are willing to do today.  And again tomorrow.  And the day after that.  How about 7 days of this practice, and see how it touches you and your world?

One of the ways I try to make a difference is by teaching… and I have great news.  I have finally overcome my resistance to learning the technology (ha!) and have uploaded my entire Chakra Yoga Series on my website for you to download!  Each class was recorded live at Yoga is Youthfulness – 90 minutes focused on each of the 7 chakras.  Until the end of February, downloads are $5.99 (regularly $7.99) – pick any of all of the series, Level 1 or Level 2 for a limited time at this price!

If you are a woman and long to be filled, nurtured, and whole in your inner Self, I still have spaces in both Sacred Journey Women’s Psychotherapy Groups.  Contact me to explore this possibility.

And if you love yoga philosophy and want to dive deep, I’m teaching another workshop at Mind-Body Zone in Fremont this Saturday – The 5 Yamas: the Ethical Principles of Yoga… including a yoga practice and lecture.  Join me for an exploration on and off the yoga mat!

You and I can make a little difference – join me by starting now.

Think Small

I’m tired of everyone telling me to think bigger. “You need to play on a bigger field! You’re capable of so much more!”  Does that message ever exasperate you?

It sets us up for feeling we’re not enough as we are. And that whatever we do, it doesn’t measure up, or isn’t significant enough. We’ll never feel at peace within, because we’re always comparing ourselves to what we think we should be and do – bigger, better, and more of.

Last Month’s Show:

Meditation and Inspiration: “Ring in the Great Mystery”

You may have made some new year’s resolutions, or set some goals for the year.  But have you tapped into the Source yet?

The Divine is the Great Mystery – the Emptiness, or Void out of which all that exists manifests.  It is the Tao, the nothing that holds the everything.

I will offer a bit of inspiration to tap you into that spacious nothingness, and then you’ll be led through a semi-guided meditation to open to receive it.  It’s a powerful way to begin the new year!

Or, see my Radio Show page for more shows!

Do you know someone who would be great on Awakening Self?  Send me an email and you may just hear them on an upcoming radio show!
